Nov/2025 – Green pool? Who you gonna call? Total Pool Solutions!!
A green swimming pool is typically caused by an algae bloom due to low chlorine levels or poor water chemistry. Algae thrive when sanitizer levels are insufficient, often resulting from inadequate filtration, improper pH or alkalinity, or high phosphate levels.
While algae itself isn’t highly toxic, swimming in green water is not advisable due to potential health risks from pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can survive in low-sanitizer conditions. The green color can also reduce visibility, increasing the risk of drowning, and the water may be slippery.
Additionally, dissolved metals like copper can tint water green without cloudiness, leading to staining if untreated. Immediate action, such as shocking the pool, brushing surfaces, and balancing chemicals, is necessary to restore safety and clarity.
OCT/2025 – Deep cleaning in preparation for re-grout. This is one of the MOST IMPORTANT parts of the job. It is essential to work with clean, dirt free surfaces for a long-lasting finish. This is our specialty.
October 2025 – This Phuket swimming pool required surface repair and renewed grout. Cracks in concrete or plaster pools and deteriorated tile joints should be assessed together because both can affect the condition, appearance and service life of the pool finish.
Pool finish before the repair and regrouting work
Assessing Cracks and Worn Pool Grout
Visible cracking does not always reveal the full extent or cause of a problem. Before starting, the pool surface and tile joints should be inspected for loose material, failed grout and areas that may require a more detailed repair. Repeated cracking or unexplained water loss can indicate that further investigation is needed rather than a simple cosmetic patch.
The correct scope depends on what the inspection finds. Some pools need focused crack repairs and regrouting, while widespread tile failure may justify a broader pool retiling and regrouting programme.
Preparing and Repairing the Pool Surface
Concrete or plaster pool repairs commonly require the water level to be lowered or the pool to be drained so the damaged area can be accessed. Loose or unsound material must be removed before an appropriate repair compound is applied. Sealing and curing are important parts of the process; refilling too early can compromise the repair.
Inspect cracks, loose material and surrounding tile joints.
Expose and clean the affected repair areas.
Apply suitable repair and sealing materials.
Allow the repaired surface to cure correctly.
Check the finish before returning the pool to service.
Removing and Replacing Degraded Grout
Regrouting involves removing old, eroded or poorly bonded grout from the tile joints. The joints are then cleaned and prepared before new pool-grade grout is installed. This restores a more consistent finish and closes worn joints that can collect dirt or continue to deteriorate.
Grout discoloration alone may be a maintenance issue, but erosion, missing sections and widespread cracking deserve professional attention. Addressing the surface repair and grout condition as one project helps avoid finishing over defects that still need work.
A Renewed and Easier-to-Maintain Finish
The finished project renewed the tile joints and improved the overall pool surface. For villas, managed properties and private homes in Phuket, a properly planned repair can reduce disruption and provide a clearer basis for future maintenance.
Total Pool Solutions can also assess connected defects through its pool repair and installation services. The recommendation will be based on the visible condition and any testing required, rather than replacing sound areas unnecessarily.
Arrange a Pool Surface Inspection in Phuket
If your pool has cracks, missing grout, loose tiles or recurring surface damage, arrange an inspection before the affected area grows. We will explain whether focused repair, complete regrouting or a wider renovation is appropriate.
Oct/2025 – Total Pool Solutions uses swimming pool tiles that are specially designed to withstand constant submersion, UV exposure, and harsh chemicals. Unlike regular tiles, pool tiles are non-porous and highly durable – glass and porcelain are top choices for longevity and aesthetics. They’re used for waterline accents or full interior coverage, enhancing both style and functionality while resisting fading, cracking, and water damage.
Proper grouting ensures durability and enhances the pool’s appearance.
Sept/2025 – Rain doesn’t stop play for Total Pool Solutions. Prep work underway for the re-grout of this resort’s swimming pool.
The resort owner had the job done only 3 years ago, but the grout had since vanished. As always – the cheaper jobs turn out to be the most expensive. This time quality pool grout was used, the existing tiles were polished to give them a brand new look, and all in all, the final product, as always, looks amazing !!
Sept/2025 – 1 year after a full re-grout and the pool still looks like the work was completed yesterday !
As a rule, Total Pool Solutions conducts annual inspections on all swimming pool work, checking condition, and for any signs of deterioration, of which there is always none. It’s a satisfying task.
Sept/2025 – A total swimming pool renovation by Total Pool Solutions. In this case, we repaired multiple leaks, replacing coping (edge), and retiled the terrace.
Sept/2025 – Rain rarely stops us from working. As long as conditions are safe and our equipment can function, we keep going. If there’s lightning, hail, a typhoon – we stop, otherwise, light rain or drizzle is just part of the job, especially in regions like Phuket, where rain is common. Total Pool Solutions is equipped with rain gear and plan for wet days, ensuring work continues.
